Although I agree with you, this is not evident from the graph. There are some really poor countries on there with good IQ and low religiosity.

I hope you're joking. Anyway, for me this stokes my confirmation bias that the stupider a person is, the more likely they are to believe in ridiculous nonsense. It also shows that the U.S. is sorta smart for how religious they are.

Your judgement sounds pretty good to me. In fact this is exactly what I was thinking when reading the OP, mainly because he spent 2 hours printing "hundreds" of fliers and packing them into envelopes only to gain what, 15 emails? And how m

MDMA is currently being tested (in sessions combined with therapy) for treating PTSD. I've heard nothing about its consideration for schizophrenia but it wouldn't be surprising.

He made the right conclusions and these programs have already been implemented. (at least in my state) There are many community-based mental health providers. They are private-sector companies, usually nonprofits, that provide treatment p

It's actually not a good point, see my reply above. Upvote for using the word 'promulgating' though. Good show :o)

Just to clarify: This isn't DRM, it's a patent on how DRM would be implemented.

Beat me to it, nice :) But why do you use that keyboard combination over the default option+space? EDIT: Ugh, nevermind - brain fart, my apologies for the slight odor...

> So is it simply a matter of degree, and the "disorder" label just gets applied when the traits get strong enough for others to comment on? Yes, it is the degree to which traits manifest, but it's not simply a matter of others commenti

I've seen this pop up a few times on HN now, seems a good candidate for this type of setup. Tomorrow on HN: "Hi, we're Stump! It's like Bump for messaging but with the encryption of STEED!"

No I haven't, but that's exactly my point. These companies are spending crazyass amounts on lawyers, lobbying, campaigns, etc. all the while mis-valuing a single download as an enormous profit loss (up to $22,000 for a single song if you be

During the last HA round I noticed that LivingSocial has Portland offices, as do a few of the companies that App Academy works with (vmware springs to mind, was just there yesterday). My problem is there is no way I can leave for a couple m

I really want to participate in one of these programs (App Academy, Hungry Academy, Hacker School, etc.) but location is a deal-breaker. Does anyone know of similar events in the Portland, OR area?

Cool idea but as others have mentioned, the 'viral' visualization is pretty but doesn't represent any one-to-many shares. Also, poor China... They don't get to play.

Agreed. This exactly. Since the point of all of this is to prevent evil downloading that robs these poor companies of money, I would like to see some figures relating to the amount of cash that the MPAA/RIAA spend on legislation and policy

Agree. I can remember vividly that same state of flux in my own life. When my parents dropped our dialup internet (too expensive) I looked for alternative ways to get online. My 'solution' was successful and was really exciting at the tim

There are still plenty of WEP APs in my area. In fact there are local businesses still using WEP on their WiFi. HN often fails to realize what 'normal' users are like. The world is still very unsecured.

There are ways around the fw password, so it's an additional layer against the uninitiated but probably won't help you much and can cause problems for legitimate users.
