I happen to build that kind of tool as well: https://superintendent.app Anyway, if you don't know SQL, you are kinda out of luck and stuck with Excel.

It's true that most accountants won't be able to reach that kind of scale, though the modern saas businesses might be able to reach that point.

The target users are non-technical users. Think accountants. They are technical and not be able to use command line tools. Other than that, I appreciate the feedback.

Long time customer of fastmail. Great support. I once forgot to cancel sub, contacted them, and they refunded with no question. Really built the trust. Now I have my personal and side business on fastmail. UX is simple, service is reliable.

Thank you for your kind words. Could you elaborate your use case? Drop me an email at tanin@ superintendent.app, we should be able to work something out regarding pricing.

I've made a similar app, but I aim it to be more convenient, especially for people who don't want to handle installation and command line. Check it out: https://superintendent.app -- it is a paid app though.

I used to have multiple files, but that didn't work well either. It's nicer to have everything in a single file where you can scroll through quickly. But as mentioned the fuzzy search isn't there though.

My working memory file is just a giant txt file that is synced using git to github. It's free and fast (because a text file editor like Sublime is fast and can handle a very large text file). You can also use it offline. The conflict i

I built a desktop for a similar purpose, and it can handle GBs of CSV files pretty quickly. It is for CSV though. It is more convenient if you do this regularly for your job. Please check it out: https://superintendent.app

Maybe my work laptop has Rosetta by default. I do have plan to compile a native one. I will see when I can recompile it on M1. Thank you for letting me know.

I agree. I was thinking about building it for linux, but there's no equivalent mechanism. I was thinking about utilizing clipboard instead. Apart from that, AppSandbox + NSUserUnixTask + NSService reallt enable this use case to have th
