Ok, you’ve piqued my interest. What’s required in order for something to be genuinely confused?

Is that using Jitsi or whatever it is? I thought that was third party? I actually set that up for work before realising that we all hate voice/video calls and would just prefer to type. :P

Yeah, my first thought was Mattermost, it’s pretty straightforward to set up and then your data’s nobody’s hostage.

There's a similar issue with the old ASUS ROG laptops, my old 17" 2017 one had a higher CPU throttling curve than the GPU, and they shared a heat pipe, so with the CPU at 100%, the GPU would throttle hard and slow games down. The

I don't expect max performance gaming on USB-C, but it should at least run as fast as it does on battery alone. It should definitely be able to update a mouse cursor and play an MP3. This isn't just throttling, it's unusable.

I have a 2024 Zephyrus G14 and it has bursts of stuttering which seem to be directly linked to running off USB-C power. It doesn't do it on the original power brick, but on a 70W USB power brick, it slows down massively every now and t

Division is slow, though. You should use something like: right_shifted = (int)(value * pow(2, -bits) - 0.5)

This trend has been going on for much longer than the current worries about microplastics and whatnot. Lower fertility doesn’t necessarily mean lower physical fecundity. It can also just mean that generations of kids have been raised to bel

If it’s deprecated then it’s still there, it might just go away someday. Releasing an API and then deprecating it immediately seems sneaky.

I don’t know about southpaws but I went to school with a guy whose heart was on the right side of his chest. I’m not certain about the rest of his organs though.

The money goes faster on the top side of the wing, which means the money underneath the wing is more compressed, lifting up both sides of the wing. This is known as the "trickle-down" theory of lift.

Interesting! My pet theory about the crossover in the optic nerve is that it's the simplest way to get goal-seeking behaviour. Proto-eye activates, activates muscles on opposite side of body, organism turns towards activated proto-eye.

That's literally my point, though. Maybe I should have worded it better. You 'hate' them, sure, but in a frustrated way, the way you hate a thing. These people seem to hate AI the way you'd despise a person.

Does anyone else find it just a little disturbing how hard a certain subset of the population is leaning into this? Like they've finally found a group of people that they're allowed to hate. And let's be clear here, they'

I don’t think that’s what ablation is about. It’s more like blowing parts off a bus until it ceases to be a bus. Then you find the minimal set of bus parts required to still be a bus, and that’s an indication that those parts are important

If your definition of 'simple' varies that drastically from mine, it might follow that your definition of 'complex' varies likewise. I guess we just use these words in different ways.
