I think this is a great forward-thinking feature of iOS. Some apps I have are no longer available via the app store. The only way I can retain access to them is via local copies.

IANAL, but I do know 2/3rds of the company existed entirely to push the papers that kept the place running above the boards, along with yearly inspections by the FDA, etc. Whether this is a problem of regulation or enforcement can'

I used to work for a generics manufacturer, and indeed this was their MO. Seek out old drugs that sill have a very viable market but are under the radar of the big guys, undersell until they're the only supplier left, then jack up the

The idea that centralized violence is necessary for a "functioning" society is a common misconception. It's rarely discussed in political circles but we've got to remember that the state as we understand it is a technolo

Working Copy[1] is the first app I've seen to come along and really change the situation. A pretty glaring limitation of previous solutions was reliance on SSH for git control. Working Copy provides a great subset of git tools graphica

I second all of the above. For me, though, the major regression is the priorities of the search field. Prior to the redesign Maps seemed to know the exact location I needed regardless of the amount of detail I included in the query (i.e. to

$ clear is six characters, and you have to be on a new prompt first. ⌘R is a reset command, meaning it's for restoring a garbled terminal. ⌘K will keep your input on the line but clear other output, same as ⌃L but more pinky-friendly.

This is a great intro. Here's my favorite OS X Terminal trick: ⌘. (command period) is a hotkey not defined in the menu for sending BREAK. This is automatically equivalent to ctrl+c in shells, ctrl+g in emacs and ESC in Vim. Similarly,

I have no idea to which country you are referring. I can't find any broad consensus, and all I can find are postings for internships in student health services. I also think you're really underestimating the severity of the proble

As a resident of Philly I'd say you've got to remember the permanent class war happening here. Children die in elementary schools because there isn't enough funding for a school nurse. To us on HN, a hitchhiking robot is a cu
