I've never really done a whole lot of lower level programming but IIRC 68K/PowerPC was big endian and I believe that a lot of Carbon was pretty stubborn about that. Also I don't know how much Altivec code would have needed to be ported to S

I don't think the problem is Java documentation/community support. It's really that with the exception of Play/Grails/Vert.x the frameworks are horrifically over-engineered by developers who live and breathe in the enterprise space. Nobody

I don't think that the Oracle lawsuits have made a single bit of difference to anybody. Oracle isn't the only big fish in the Java space.

It IS used extensively for modern web application development just not by a lot of startups. In the enterprise space you really only see Java and .Net used for the core pieces. One reason that Java is becoming less popular is that you don't

Maybe Meego would be a good fit ? But if she could get this working on Android it would be huge. I guarantee you could get a million off Kickstarter if you decided to be a little evil and stoke the fanboy flames a bit on Engadget/Reddit etc

   a) You have a complete misunderstanding of how patents/copyright work and why Apple is suing Samsung. b) Christina has already mentioned that the GUI frameworks are missing which are non-trivial to implement to say the least.

I agree that it is ridiculous the way Apple basically changes the rules as it goes along. I just don't understand the outrage or surprise. There has been 3 years of developers trying to bend the rules and posting complaints like this. FACT:

Well those people are simply naive. Many developers have hated the platforms they have developed on but do so because the platform allows them to make money. It's worked this way since the beginning of industry i.e. decades.
