What I don't understand is how this is stunning ? It just shows the fundamental lack of equality or fairness in the 'currency'.

Wouldn't work. A lot of users use headphones. I like your angle though. You would be better off asking the use to throw their iPad up in the air (at least 3 metres for accuracy) and measure the time it takes to come to rest. Just remember t

The iPad 2 is ever so slightly faster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpV8AoToeHs Would a JS micro-benchmark work e.g. some integer calculation ? Of course performance may change depending on the other apps the user has open but maybe it

Surprised this hasn't been posted: http://allthingsd.com/20121113/in-the-sinofsky-departure-bil... Basically Sinofsky was fired because Ballmer/Gates wanted more collaboration/integration between the other divisions. And Sinofsky is famou

>There are 8600 likes on google+ for the Nexus 4. If you are very generous you could say that would translate to 860,000 purchases. Are you serious ? Tell me you're not this stupid.

> As I thought, Google is way smarter than Apple to be prepared for high volume sales on it's platform. Haha. You have to laugh at how ridiculous this comment is.

Your assumption is that Google is doing this to build buzz. They could just as well have component supply problems.

Others have addressed some other parts that are nonsense. I will tackle some gaps. > Also new SDKs for ios break code in undocumented ways including in features that Apple provides(like the video controller). You make this statement as

Apple is not FreeBSD either. It is Darwin which forked in its own direction a long time ago.

Surprised nobody is talking about the most interesting part. Taobao runs almost entirely on Nginx-Lua-MySQL. And I mean entirely. There is no application server just Nginx. And every request is non blocking all the way from user to database

The new economy is not supposed to form around purchases as expensive as cars. It is still optimised for micro-transactions where that 4% fee isn't a significant cost.

Given the appalling lack of basic security across many of the Bitcoin services there is no way on earth I would be trusting them with bank account details.

Call me stupid. But I think Apple probably 'sees' what Google is doing. And I really don't think they could care less. Apple has never been about competing on market share. They care about profit. And I personally this strategy by Google ma

I tried both and know your feeling. Geckoboard seems to support more services but Ducksboard has a far nicer UI. Shame we can't merge the two together.

Or it could be that older, better educated and wealthier people are willing to pay a little extra to get something that works. Because you know as you get older you realise that time is more important than money. My point was that blanket s

For reference: Apple's patents were for multi-touch/bounce back scrolling which their research showed was worth $30/$40 to consumers. Samsung's patents are one of the many FRAND patents for core 3G/WiFi.
