You can blame Bill Joy for that. Allegedly, it was him who made csh the default root shell way back in the day. The reason it was never changed to sh or ksh subsequently is simply that it was never that big a deal: tcsh is a solid interacti

They're not alone in that: for instance, .eu and .be domains with registrant contacts without an organisation name set have only very minimal details published in WHOIS. Then again, it's totally up to ccTLD operators to decide on

Doubtful. I know people in the ICANN registrar constituency, and to the best of my knowledge there have been no discussions of this. Now, what is the case is that there's been a crackdown, due to pressure from law enforcement agencie

I would guess that PHK, being PHK, is just being thorough rather than defensive. After all, if you can avoid a lot of back and forth, you're saving everybody time. Of all people here, he's definitely one of the ones worth giving t

It's required of any question that expects an answer. Nobody's going to answer your question if you're an ass who doesn't show a modicum of consideration of those being asked the question.

To be fair, the point of Brainfuck was about interpreter size: the idea was to create an interpreter that could fit in 256 bytes or less of 68000 assembly language. Brainfuck and its ilk (and I'd include Malbolge/Dis in that) are

There are two issues I have with the redesign: the use of Palatino as the body typeface, and the dark green body text, which I think would've been better as a dark grey. Other than that and a few spacing issues, it's good!

'red-head scarf' certainly isn't an acceptable use of a hyphen, unless the scarf is woven from the hair of a red-haired person.

I wouldn't be surprised if that 1.36% in Ireland was almost solely down to the hosting company I work for. I really wish the hosting providers here would get their acts together when it comes to IPv6 deployment, but they're really

Of all the components of systemd that doesn't need to exist, resolved is definitely one of them. Why they're reinventing the wheel rather than allowing the user to set up something that works and is battle-tested, such as unbound,
