The world doesn't need another CV or an application form where I talk about a particular challenge I faced and how I overcame it. I still fill those out.

Most recruiters I've met never stop recruiting and spend a great deal of "social" time talking to people in relevant areas and trying to figure out how to get them a job. It's usually quite obnoxious, but definitely does

My main issue with the whole thing is that it is immediately used as an excuse to do down and prevent real engineering that can actually happen in the next 30 years like HSR. Blue sky thinking is good, but you can't sit back doing noth

MAU stats could illustrate this entire narrative completely. Instead I feel like somebody is attacking me with random statistics until I agree with them more passionately or something

Why? Everything else being equal that would just mean you'd get a completely blank page because the database connection would have died in the initial request rather than the ajax request

So it's happened 3 times out of a possible 30. Doesn't even seem that dramatic when you put it that way.

This always drives me mad. It's particularly bad if I'm trying to read content sites on a train or somewhere with patchy reception - open half a dozen tabs to give me something to read while I'm disconnected, and then switch

They're actively adding features. It's a little more complex than it used to be with the manifest, and needing a service worker and encryption for a lot of features, but it's all still there

So the whole "pay peanuts, get monkeys" thing now has the additional problem that the monkeys will sue you for a fair wage, and possibly more tyres on ropes in their enclosures?

Chrome has that sorted already on android, where you can run up a site with a home screen link, different icon and separate listing in the task list. Given the work they've recently put in on full screen mode on desktop it looks like t

The one at SFO is pretty standard. What's irritating about the one at EWR is that it's so unecessary . The loop seems like it's there because they couldn't get somebody to accept the supporting pillars in their precious

How many airports are landing anything like a 747 every 1.4 minutes? Especially given that the Shinkansen runs in both directions, so your airport is going to have to handle exclusively 747s, with high loadings and a headway of around 40 se

I hate the monorail at EWR with a passion - the slow speed, the long stop at a parking garage before the terminal, the insane loop round some kind of junkyard/parking lot it takes on the way to the railroad station, but all told it

Given that buses usually don't beat rail in speed terms, and are usually less environmentally friendly, the only real reason for buses to exist is price. If they can't beat rail on that they simply won't run.

London is three times the size of Houston. If you did the same comparison for, say, Birmingham you could easily afford to live in a good suburb within a 30 minute commute of central Birmingham

Maybe OP was talking about a new show in development. It possibly follows the lives of the lawyers from LA Law who, having fallen on hard times, are forced to steal bread and break spontaneously into song to survive.
