Maybe they’re from here. Maybe they’re stuck here. Maybe they’ve been guiding humanity since the murky dawn of our prehistory. Maybe we are their genetically engineered creation. Maybe they have a vested interest in us not making our beauti

I tried, but turns out they won't let people live too close to a rocket launch site. Something about safety concerns. Who knew?!

You're welcome. That's correct, it's a worthwhile tradeoff.

One less explosion before they figure out how to fly and reuse the rocket. You understand how learning works, right?

What was won is a small but vital step toward humans becoming a multiplanetary species. From this angle, the impact of this launch is obviously a small price.

Yes, and it's not too much of a stretch to imagine the author might reasonably assume readers of Quanta Magazine don't need more than a passing mention of that fact.

I didn't say that's what he said, I said that's what he's saying. There's a difference.

I can’t answer your question but I would push back on the claim that it’s done the requested task very decently. There is nothing uniquely Eminem or Dennett about their respective parts. Eminem has never released a verse with as simplistic

I mean, just the fact that they track your location would put their surveillance way ahead of Brave, no?

Hate to break it to you but everyone can hear those videos, they're not what they say they are. I downloaded the audio of the one that claims to be 1Hz and analysed it - most of the energy is between 40 and 60Hz, with some as high as 1

I mean how loud it sounds, the subjective “volume”. It’s not exact, but it’s a useful rule of thumb.
173.
by taejavu 4y ago
“Pretty loud” is an understatement because decibel is a logarithmic scale - every 6dB increase is an apparent doubling of loudness. Also, no-one can hear 1hz - for us it’s a rhythm, not a tone. A grandfather clock ticks at roughly that rate

I'm aware of large AAA games taking up that much space (Doom Eternal, Red Dead Redemption 2) but they could hardly be considered "simple". Do you have examples of what you're talking about?
