It’s on the front page because Apple dropped the ball so hard with Tahoe that people are willing to entertain the thought of switching to just about anything other than macOS

Since you’re giving an edgy take in a thread discussing the death of a respected author, I’ll be pedantic: you’re wrong about those people not reading a word of Smith or Keynes, since it’s impossible to avoid reading at least one of their c

You’re right about my mistake, I should have said “the second code snippet”.

That’s not the example I’m talking about. I mean where he defines `calculation` within the curly braces of the if statement, then says it “leaked out” because he can log it below the closing brace of the if statement. That’s a perfect examp

The first example is not “terrible”, that’s just how lexical scope works. I don’t really see the point of complaining about language features like this - either learn how it works or ignore at your peril.

I’m curious what you don’t like about fly.io. Also what’s the connection to svelte?

What a great resource! Took me a minute to find their actual recommendations without having to read each review, which is here: https://bachcellosuites.co.uk/bach-cello-suites-home/favouri...

attr() lets you read values from your html in css. CSS variables do not.

There are any number of tools that already make that promise. Turns out it’s still hard to complete projects and bring them to market.

I understand and empathise with the position you’re putting forward, but am left curious, since you mentioned the evidence is mounting, whether you can substantiate the claim that technology is net-negative. I mean, just on the face of it,

I think you’re overstating this somewhat - I took eggs home in a plastic bag from my local butcher this morning and ate with plastic forks and knives at a picnic on the weekend. Yes, in Australia.

Forgive my ignorance - at what point does electromagnetic radiation not count as light? Because it seems obvious to me that since our bodies are warm, and heat is a form of EMR, then of course we radiate "light". But also, things

Nice work, this looks better than the established players in this space! You've got some customisation options in yours that I'd love to implement in mine as soon as time permits. Huge props for not forcing people to sign up for a

Yeah it'd be cool to consider this approach for some other domains. Sometime soon I'll make it so you can change the word in the top-left from "INVOICE" to "QUOTE" or "RECEIPT". The nice thing about a

It looks nice at a glance, but there's just no way I can justify $15/mth for the few times a year I need to send an invoice. If https://bestfreeinvoice.com gains some amount of traction I'd love to extend the feat

Yeah it's compressed and encoded with `lz-string` but I know it's hideous - I'm curious if that will prove a practical problem for adoption, even if a technical crowd isn't fond of the choice. Surprisingly most messaging

Correct me if I'm wrong but zipping it would mean it would be encoded in a way that wouldn't be usable as a URL. The state is currently compressed and URL encoded via lz-string fwiw/in case you're curious.

I know the URLs are long compared to what people are used to. Part of the rationale for putting this out there in the current state is I'm curious if people in practise will share long URLs or not. At some point I'd like to add sh

I've been putting together a no-nonsense free invoice generator, for people (like myself) that only occasionally send invoices. It's more-or-less a WYSIWYG editor, and the state is stored in the URL, so you don't have to worr
