The OEM is disabling all updates. Security patches and better drivers (that are published through windows updates from the ODM). not just new features. Would you like winodws xp blaster boxes to return.

iirc they implement https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMAC-based_One-time_Password_A... (or a variant of it) Each side has a seed value which then allows the calculation of what the current value should be.

It's an awesome plane though. I've met a few people who have flown the cirrus planes.

I push it up to an encrypted disk on my VPS behind an ssh connection. the only people with access to the host are trusted people. The only way ssh access works without a key is from certain trusted networks. (over a vpn only)

Except there is still a very limited amount of bandwidth in the air. Yes you can get 2 dishes that support half a gbit of traffic but you only get 4 or 5 of those up and running without interference. you still have significant scaling issue

Having used powershell and winrm recently. It doesn't matter if it's a better idea. it's a piece of crap with horrible verbosity issues and so many stupid corner cases it just isn't funny.

I use the powershell script from the packer winrm project. it's ugly as sin and requires many many reboots (and is slow as fuck) but at least it gets them all installed.

Ever tried to install an update to .net and powershell automatically without a restart remotely? You need the wrappers of defined state or sccm just to survive. Winrm can't even touch it. (except through ugly as sin scheduled commands)

Coverage is a problem in some areas. In many parts of australia the 3g coverage has been left pretty damn miserable. while they have invested in 4g. additionally contention levels are just horrible on the 3g services. what's that 20 Kb
