I have my zsh set up so that if I just press Enter without writing anything it will run ls -l or git status if it's a git directory.

Laravel can let you start very small and still get you very far. You can easily start with a single server running both the app and the db, and then add specialized servers for higher performance cache and queues later on by simply changing

Well no, presumably we usually accumulate technical debt to meet the business deadline, with the hope of getting rid of it later on.

I usually wrap everything (including reads) in a transaction at middleware level. Not perfect, has its downsides but for many projects it's perfectly ok. Of course it's not a real substitute for foreign keys, but definitely better

A notable difference is the liabilities usually have a due date, while technical debt usually have none. Just a though: would assigning a due date to properly refactor the shortcuts we sometimes have to take be a useful exercise to better

I don't get the negativity, looks like a self ironic Rust tutorial to me, which may be quite useful to Rust beginners.

Upvoted. Not an expert myself but I feel that SSL/SSL certificate optimization is a very overlooked performance optimization.

Do we really need syntactic sugar for bitwise operators in a language like Javascript? I would rather have longer keywords for that and free those tokens for more widely used use cases (as having just | VS |> for the proposed pipe operat

Interesting! I'll try to keep this as short as I can since I am writing on the phone, but I came up with another technique which I used with success a few times, and it's similar to yours in a way. I should point out I think out

Incredible. Is this unprecedented or have been other cases in history where the vast majority of employees standup against the board in favor of their CEO?

Looks so nice! Free + not having to manage all those pesky API keys is such a cool combination. Some questions: Is there a way to have my own login page with the email field and a selection of social buttons styled as I'd like and have

I remapped my caps lock as a modifier to let me use my central row keys as arrow keys, also stuff like caps look + space bar = return, caps lock + Z = delete and so on. It's quite handy.

Agreed. Virtualization with a table layout, sticky header, native scrolling, and inline content (aka no iframe) it's quite challenging, especially if business-value-wise it's seen as some kind of commodity. Factor in variable hei

I am using Phind quite a lot. It's using it's own model along GPT 4 while still being free. It is also capable to perform searches, which lead me - forgive me founders - to abuse it quite a lot: whenever I am not finding a good an

It's just commoditization, hard things now becoming a lot easier and value proposition to move up elsewhere. It happened with hardware, operative systems, web tools such as maps etc.

To be fair, Twitter has began pushing algorithm mess onto their users far before the Musk take over. We really can't blame him for that. I was kind of hoping he would have at least tried to reverse it though.

Love this. The problem I have with this approach, though, is SQL itself. Until we get simple things such as inserts and unions based on field name rather than field order, there are simply too many pitfalls for me.

I remember Google analytics listing 150k/year for the enterprise offering, stating something along NG the lines: "we like simple pricing". It was 10 years ago, I don't know if that has changed since.

They probably need to get into the vocal assistant business. I don't know about Siri but I find Google Assistant very frustrating. A voice to voice interaction with ChatGPT along with context tracking would definitely be great.
