There are implementations/dialects of APL that use "ASCII-friendly" operation names. The "J" and "K" language are examples.

Re: The distinction has more to do with when they were discovered than what causes them. Well, okay. But so far there's no evidence to suggest the brain uses quantum effects discovered/verified fairly recently. The "common&

I believe what was meant was quantum-only or primarily-quantum effects rather than the aggregate effects we normally see (classic physics & chemistry), which are probably the result of quantum physics, but we have "classic"

We don't currently fully know how anesthetics work largely because we don't really know how the human brain works on a large scale. We'd have to solve that before seriously proposing quantum effects. In other words, it's

That might be true, but first, how many are going to actually try the headsets? Second, the 3D factor "gets old hat" over time, many say. It's like riding a roller coaster 50 times. The 51st becomes routine. (I've done i

Meta could have purchased or cloned the concept of "Second Life" so that people can do VR with regular computer/TV screens. That's a much more approachable first step. When that catches on, THEN focus on physical 3D head

Fund research into: 1) State-ful GUI markup standard. HTML/CSS/DOM is a poor fit for CRUD/GUI. 2) "Dynamic Relational" database. Dynamism is a desired feature of databases as the "NoSql" growth shows, but

I agree. Set theory is more powerful and flexible than taxonomic trees (although not perfect). It's why I believe the future is Table Oriented Programming (TOP), where code blocks are either in or managed by RDBMS. Code-centric tools r

GPD is also personal choice. There's no Grand Law of the Universe which says GDP should be the primary metric. Its importance is an invention of human minds, out of either human nature and/or historical happenstance.

A common example is "lines of code". If you pay by lines of code, then coders will bloat up code to pad their metrics, making it verbose and redundant.

One problem with this idea is that if you don't grow your GDP, countries that do grow it will stomp you militarily and/or diplomatically.

Good point. What's people-friendly may not be machine-friendly, and vice versa. Further, what's human writing friendly may not be human reader friendly. When writing, verbosity reduction matters most; but when reading, clarity o

During the early 2000's there was an IT slump in CA due to the dot-com crash, so I spent a lot of time sending out resumes. Eventually I created a script to quickly customize them for a given job ad. It had topic meta-tags, and each to

I actually like the VB-style, but VB did it mostly wrong: if you start the block with X, you should always end it with "End X". Thus, you'd have While ... End While instead of crap like "Wend" and "Next" (
