I never said brown people can't be called expats. Your defensiveness regarding that is more SJW than my original post, which just cited a few articles.

You've yet to prove that they've had "the opportunity and incentive to choose this field, yet go elsewhere."

I'd love to see your evidence for this. Namely, you'd need to prove that for a given educational level, geographical location and familial history, they're more likely to choose something other than tech than white males.

My point is basically this: the average is being extremely skewed by survivorship bias, namely, White and Asians who attended elite schools. I assert that getting the salaries noted in the article is especially unlikely if you're on th

I agree, but most people couldn't care less about that. Most people eat meat, use housing that's displaced huge amounts of land that animals use to inhabit, etc.

I'm legitimately interested to see how much software engineers make if they're not White or Asian. Given the lack of women and minorities I'd say minorities are better off being an MD than a SE. In addition, I'm skeptica

Who exactly are you trying to impress? You may be think I'm being presumptuous, but because there's no objective success you must be trying to impress someone. Once you figure that out and acknowledge that you'll be closer

Again, it's possible to have an anonymous candidate you can talk to. Voice obfuscation, prohibited questions (to ensure anonymity, etc.) There's nothing inherent in needing to know who the person is. If you disagree I'd love

I fail to see what any of that has to do with knowing who the person is. You might be right, though. As I mentioned, those benefiting from these things will obviously protest it.

I've sat in interviews for most positions (at where I work, anyway). The only one that requires actually knowing who the person is (gender wise, race wise, etc) is sales. Even in that case, it's only because of preexisting prejudi

The entire purpose of the voting system is to determine if its useful or not. Might as well just do it: if its desired it'll be voted up, if not it'll fade into irrelevance.

Just curious: in an ideal society, where there are no super large corporations that would abuse their advantage here, would this be a big deal? Isn't this similar to the advantage that capitalists have when buying huge swathes of land?
