I fail to see what socialism has to do with my comment. I am not even making a value judgment on whether or not superiority is bad, it's just an empirical fact.

That's a strange conclusion to make from my pretty innocent comment. Projection? Besides, pushing down someone and failing to aid them are not the same thing. I'm surprised there's even disagreement here. Our entire society i

Why does one oppress? Oppression is a symptom, not the cause.

If you think about it, all social problems stem from a single word: superiority. So, why can't America solve the hunger problem? Because there are some who want to be superior to others. The end. The main value of being a "have&qu

Your fingerprint can't be "genetically modified," but I'm surprised at the amount of false information here. Burning your fingers or deep cuts will give you a new fingerprint (usually "none") [1]. AFAIK you can

Plenty of students are more than willing and able to help other people, free of charge . I personally think it would be a better use of time cultivating that and structuring it to be of maximum benefit to the tutor and the reader/pers

I defined public information as having the property of: free access. I don't believe information inherently is public for the same reason I believe in privacy. is there public information? sure. there's also private information.

What? I didn't say finding 15K users and getting them to pay a cent an hour was easy. I said setting up a website that can easily support 15K users is. I've already provided instructions on how you can trivially setup a phpBB fo

hosting 15,000 users a month is trivial for a forum use case. building a forum is also trivial. you can literally do the entire thing in 15 minutes (buy a domain, use cPanel, install phpBB, done). I think 5K a month is more than appropriate

under this scheme any smart website owner would allow certain amounts of usage to be for free, and optimize discoverability for things that are of high value, a win for both them and the viewer.

I don't see how charging money is any more complicated than serving ads. Couldn't you trivially implement this with a NEED_TIP header and some javascript on the website that makes sure the user has paid (there are plenty of ways t

I'd rather someone implement a tipping API where I can allocate money per website per minute (or hour spent). When the money runs out, depending on the configuration, the website can choose to serve me the page or ask me to reload (on

I think people are intentionally misleading by using a .org though. Otherwise, why not do a .com? Clearly they believe and/or know there's some sort of "social" aspect to it.

I wish there was a TLD that was regulated such that only a legitimate not for profit organization could have it, similar to .edu. Change having a .org TLD is incredibly misleading. It's not a non-profit, and no, B corporations do not

I'm still on the fence to whether or not the ability for big companies to give away free software is a net good or not. On one hand, schools theoretically have more money now to spend on mission critical things. On the other hand, the
