Because there are a lot of different types of filesystems supported. And you'd have to compile them all into the kernel. Which of course you can do, that is supported by the build system today. But Distros typically prefer to keep t

The Linux kernel does not require an initramfs. You can build a kernel with everything compiled in; with no modules needed at all. Initramfs is used for generic kernels where you don't know beforehand which features will be required.

There are content creator "experts" going around telling their clients to take dates off of everything to make their content "evergreen" to keep engagement up. It's infuriating.

Nothing of the sort. I'm trying to understand why anyone cares about formal verifiability in this context, since it's not something we rely on when asking humans to answer questions for us. We evaluate any answer we get without

You've made some interesting points, which are debatable, for sure. But you've failed to address the question being asked about "verifiability".

So what? You have no way to know for sure if the human you ask the same question, does either. The question that started this thread was related to verifiability. And i still think it is a spurious complaint, given that we have exactly t

You can ask an LLM to explain itself.. it will give you a logical stepwise progression from your question to its answer. It will often contain a mistake, but the same is true for a human. And if your LLM is giving you 100 different answers

Anyone who uses the term "Tech Bro" (or any other derisive personal attacks), has an axe to grind, and should have extra skepticism cast upon their conclusions, for bias and other ill-founded ideas.

I'm pretty sure human's role, in the grand scheme of things, is to generate the next step in evolution. We should do the best job we can for the universe.

Yes, i've been trying to dig into this. People's values are basically a strategy; they hold these values, as a strategy developed by evolution. Evolution has found that instilling these values is a good strategy to sustain the c
