The QC-35 ii product is a regression. I use both all day. Changing pairs when the battery dies. Bluetooth range is about half as good as original QC-35. When I go in/out of range there is a ~5 second audio delay until power cycle the h

In my current state almost everyone has a weapon. My neighbor (legally) owns a fully automatic gun. I have had a gun pointed at me twice during two separate crimes when I lived in another state. That state has extremely harsh gun laws, one

Arguably those who demonstrate understanding of low level fundamentals have the drive to understand as many layers as possible. Capturing AWS API calls through sslproxy not only implies you know what terraform is doing but you also have a h

I always called this getting in the flow. A semi meditative state. I did long range cycling in my teens (100 miles or so) and this kicked off a pattern I still use today.

I’ve had space in 60 hudson, 111 8th, and 32 AoA. Far less mysterious and easy to get into. Although the facility I was in at 32 AoA apparently had a bunch of cross-atlantic fiber terminations via AC-1. I never saw anything ominous. https:

Even worse I joined a new company in a senior technical role and it’s seen as a negative that I prefer ssh/strace/tcpdump to debug problems.

The same CO2 sensors that call for make up air are hopefully monitored. Sick building syndrome. Buildings are poorly sealed in my experience. In California code requires economizers on RTUs and they are almost always broken / stuck par

Armed responders are human. Humans make mistakes. Drop guns aren’t unheard of when a bad officer decides to cover up a mistake.

It will upset the building balance at a minimum. Air balancing techs are typically a different discipline from HVAC in large commercial spaces. Leaving the window open and AC on in high humidity areas can freeze up the coil generating a ser

Auto repair is 90% diagnostics and 10% wrench turning. A lot of newer vehicles have symptom matrixes with a process for repair. Lowering the skill floor for mechanics. What’s interesting to me about auto repair is how techs are paid. A lot

I used bill.com and ran quite a bit of money through there but I find the UX to be terrible. Second only to WorkDay. I never asked but maybe the accounting team loves it. As an approver and receiver (separate companies) it never made sense

I spent some time at the Mountain View campus and it was cut throat. I suppose it depends on who your manager is but I didn’t like the vibe. It was novel but once that wears off - reality sets in. I found a good litmus test with how courte

I think you sacrifice a lot of comfort with a mist shower. I enjoy high GPM showers - because it feels really good and it’s one of my favorite things every morning. hard water makes it difficult to rinse soap off, I imagine it would be even

Ad sales are easy: appeal to the ego of the purchaser. I’m convinced ads are all a scam and are in effect money laundering. The numbers coupled with lack of factual evidence of effect is staggering. I have a lot of distrust in the business.

Remember when the internet wasn’t a center of commerce? People posted websites and information for free because it was cool and noble. That’s the internet I love. The audacity of so many people who feel entitled to get paid makes me so sad.

I run a bounty program and I like to think my company does a good job, too. I received a report of a RCE in a desktop app and got a fix released in 72h. We have a bounty committee that reviews payouts and paid in one week.

Bad managers think this way. Granted, there are a lot of bad managers. Making someone want to be a better person helps you, even if you lose them. You will lose good people anyway.

I believe the idea of email marketing is persistent because while annoying it does work. An ISP I worked at in early 00s sent a lot of spam (I’m sorry) and it was insanely profitable.
