Wow. Joel seems pretty ticked in this one. I just never thought I'd ever see a comparison between Microsoft's visionary products and 1955 salisbury steak. Paraphrasing, I think Ray Ozzie (Groove) points out in "Founders At Work", that Micr

Excellent! This will go a long way to relinquishing my n00b status concerning Lisp. "Look out Blub, there's something leaner!" -- LISP (in all-uppers) edited above as not to offend. :)

I'm not able to reimage my desktop PC at work due to draconian IT policies (darned support and compatibility). I really would love to completely rid myself of WinXP and replace it with Ubuntu. However, this looks like a good compromise for

I'd install the Opera browser. Firefox didn't quite work correctly when accessing my Linksys router (I blame my router and not FF, of course). It wouldn't hurt to install PHP either; a worthy Apache companion. Be sure to run this: sudo apt

Yes, but it isn't pretty. A static IP is, of course, preferred to using a dynamic address. On the name servers, you repoint your web address to your home IP. The DSL "modem" is plugged into my router which I have allowed outside access to
