In my opinion Using XML is always wrong. If you want to automate Jenkins setup with sth like Docker or Ansible, you have to touch the configuration, and that means dealing with XML, which makes me cry. There are many ways to do configuratio

I wonder to what extent is the price rise a bubble, and to what extent it's valuation of the potential.

My big problem when reading Python code are "from" and "as" in imports. To illustrate: I read a function doing a few calls in file, and I want to understand what happens in one of the calls (a name without any dot prefix

You mention print in lambda, and it's also in the article. I don't think that's good enough reason for killing the usability of print statement in repl. I'd consider it quite a weird piece of code if I'd see print i

Few years ago there was an extended return period for goods from a local eshop. I think it was up to 4 weeks instead of 2 (normal in EU, IIRC). Friend of mine was thinking about getting a few GPUs, power sources and a motherboard, mine lite

The guy was brought up in the US. Deducing that he's connected to underground based on his parent's origin is mental. If anything, the hyper-macho behavior is result of American upbringing. He obviously is somehow obsessed with th

I think reading book about a programming language, or an accessible technology is indeed a waste of time (and a bit of money). Why not just follow a good online tutorial and try things straight up? With hands-on from the start, you won'

I will try to comment in E-prime, the sliced bread of HN today :D. In Finland, a welfare state indeed, you can quite easily slack off on the social benefits already. If you take up unemployment insurance, you can basically get 18 months of

As somebody else mentioned - this is a great honeypot opportunity! By serving malicious builds based on referer and user-agent, they might be able to gather really interesting data.

Few weeks ago I decided to use facebook only for messages and events - I blocked the search bar, news feed, and the box on the right (I'm not sure how it's called). I use ublock origin, these are my filters that seem to do that:

IMO it's more important to make sure that a firearm is shot by whoever's authorized to do so, rather than making it convenient to shoot them per se. It might not apply for an average american shopping guns in Walmart, but hopefull
