If you add a laser pointer you'll effectively get yourself arrested within a few hours. Aircraft get laserd relatively often and it's dangerous to the pilots. We report it to air traffic control with an estimated location, they th

The older XPS "developer edition" models with a lot of ram and an SSD also make very good home servers. Power usage at idle is a fraction of what you would otherwise use and the performance is great.

The US currently has only 1% of the rail network electrified, so running power lines is going to be a huge project. Europe went the other way and has on average 54% electrified. With the Benelux / DACH / France region even around

Ah yes, we used Dyn global load balancer 10 years ago. It was a great solution at the time. But they kept their high prices while AWS started offering more flexible solutions at 1/100th of the Dyn price.

I use node-red for the same kind of things, with subflows. At some point it makes a lot more sense to write a function node (javascript) than to use node-red as intended. Avoids a lot of the spaghetti.

And Home Assistant itself is python so it may be a better fit than the often used NodeRed which is JS based.

Unlikely to be survivable for an airliner. Most air to air missiles are designed not to hit the target but to blow up close to it and destroy the aircraft using the shockwave. So it may target an engine exhaust but the explosion will damage

I think the problem isn't technical. Point to point links or satellite fit the requirements. The problem is that it's very dangerous to operate one in a state where the government has turned the internet off to suppress protests.
