It's based on an old version of MS Flight Simulator from around 2009 or 2010 or so. The graphics aren't any worse than most multi-million dollar full flight simulators used for pilot training. Even better compared to some of the s

Yeah that makes no sense. He has a lot of stock and wants to sell some. A short squeeze means you have an obligation to buy shares and not enough are available, that drives the price up like crazy.

I used this 15+ years ago with C++, it was so much easier to do cross platform things that way and it had good performance. Now I think I have not worked on a native desktop app on at least 10 years. And everything I see others make is more

The € 10 ticket price is not nearly high enough considering that most visitors pay thousands for their cruise ship or flight + hotel to get there. It needs to be much higher to have any serious impact.

If it's anything like speeding tickets in most of Europe your place of residence determines whether you have to pay on the spot or not. For example Netherlands and Germany (and many others) have an agreement in place where your home co

The parking thing could be done just like London does, charge everyone that enters the center by car a fixed (high) fee per day except for taxi's.

It's not entirely clear yet who wins, but the current issues with Google Analytics in the EU seem to be partially related. Some countries have come to the conclusion that GA can't be legal if Google US has access to the data.

This is really a myth, I've never seen any large enterprise do this type of bonus on such a bogus construct and I've seen many.

Cool to hear Rockbox still alive! I wrote the original graphical UI code for the playing screens many many years ago. Back in the iRiver H120 times.

We shouldn't, they regularly visit all countries. The reason this is probably posted is that there was some noise on Twitter last year between someone from the council and the Dutch police. The council person had jumped to conclusions

Exactly. Pressing the mode selector switch a few times to get it to sport/sport+ takes much more looking down compared to pushing the gear selector left while you keep eyes on the road to think about a quick overtake. And this is for c

I think one of the e-sys or related ISTA etc tools can move the gear selector. Because the hardware is able to move itself for example from the M/S mode (tilted left) back to center when it goes into park. And I've seen that done

The title is a bit misleading, the hack was a theft of personal data, not money. The data also wasn't sold for that money. The $ 270m is an estimate (on the low side) of the total cost to the bank, based on being fined $ 80m by the reg

It's the overal effort that goes into the design, combined with a different design goal. Airliners are specifically optimised for low drag because it saves fuel. A Cessna 172 is a design from the 1960s that wasn't much optimised a

Ah yes and this was more noticeable in Top Gun Maverick compared to the original. Almost the whole second movie is about training a team of pilots for a specific mission.

Passenger jets have very good glide ratios. A 747 gliding with no power (all four engines somehow broken) from 10,000ft will get even further than a small Cessna 172 doing the same. This is counter intuitive to even most pilots, but it'

VTOL works fine with turbines, nearly all large helicopters use turbine engines. They don't use the turbines as generators but instead connect both engines to the rotor via a gearbox.

If you want to talk to a plane about an emergency, you would use the designated emergency frequency. A trained radio operator is supposed to know that frequency.

Everyone with a license to operate some kind of maritime, aviation or other radio also knows which frequencies are designated for emergencies. Those frequencies are monitored 24x7 all over the world by for example the coast guard, ATC and n
