I don't think it's fair to compare freebsd's Linux compatibility layer to Wine. I've been running on freebsd a lot of Linux binaries of closed source software 20 years ago and it always worked flawlessly for me. Even des

That is "slightly" nitpicking, isn't it? On a bit slower computer it took me a few minutes to locate my capital - found some tiny cities around it, yet still had no idea what direction I am looking at. Lack of major city name

That's around the cost of a single VM (cheapest 8GB ram I found quickly). Azure has a free tier with control plane completely free (but no SLA) - great deal for test clusters and testing infra. If you are that worried about costs, th

My observation so far is that businesses don't aim at 24/7 any more. Officially maybe, but not in practice - they accept the risks. Some downtime is less of the deal, if that means less staff and other costs. It's a big shift

While I'm pretty sure the article is clickbait (can't tell, paywalled too soon), having many clusters ain't dumb nowadays. The automation of Kubernetes maintenance is great nowadays. For any case, bare metal, onprem, public c

If you need experts 24/7, you should have had shifts that cover that timeframe. Oncall is a source of so many ways for abuse, don't even ask me how I know. Saying that rejecting Oncall is denying support for you system is bollocks

On the other hand, DSLRs from 20 years ago had mediocre screens, mediocre batteries (on today's standards), yet could deliver pro performance for weeks. Some never turned them off, as a camera on standby barely took any power. As a bon

There was nothing that drastic in my original comment. I'm speaking of differences that are present in all of us, not extremes. See those 16 personalities or character colors tests I referred to. (although I'm not saying these are

I'm afraid we speak of different things completely. I'm referring to personality differences and how to allow each personality to be part of the team. You speak of dealing with bad past experiences or maybe even trauma. My point w
