I think some threads have been merged. I am now seeing some posts that confirm what I say above, but were made earlier in time that I had not seen. My experience and perspective is from security and privacy defense, rather than "find t

Odd. If FTDI Virtual Comm Port (VCP) drivers work but others do not, this seems like a question that FTDI should be made to answer. The USB consortium has set standards for VID/PID and how USB Device Descriptors work.

That would be a problem. I've typically gone a different route and used an ATMega32U2 (or U4) with Dean Camera's LUFA code to create a CDC to custom hardware bridge. Then the baud rate is irrelevant (or you can use it to set modes

The Hypervisor framework was released in Yosemite (macOS 10.10). Nice overview of it here < https://www.pagetable.com/?p=764> . There is a (basic) but free implementation xhyve.xyz < https://github.com

I'm curious which ones -- CDC drivers are supported automatically and since Mavericks there is built-in support for FTDI and CH340G written by Apple. I think there is still a PL2303 driver but I've not used something with one of t

Sorry, I added some additional text after you replied. I now think the report is just poorly phrased and it should have said "exploit" instead of "downloader". It is very likely the exploit, once run, did download more s

The code signing system on iOS doesn't let you dynamically add code to your app. I am also very curious about what "it is a downloader" means - if the architecture of WhatsApp means that it has a built in; externally accessib

I came here to comment that I think the problem is poorly posed and algorithm chosen to implement it is "backwards". But I also see that StehpenCannon has spoken :-); there is going to be very little chance he is wrong when it com

The handling of biometric data is designed to be secure between the sensors and the secure enclave. For example, data from the fingerprint sensor is encrypted when it is sent over the wires inside the device. The secure enclave does not sto

In my opinion, the problem is in poor logical thinking in the design of the supply switchover systems. The article indicates there are multiple power feeds and power supplies (presumably to provide low voltage equipment power). For a single

For an open source ssh client there is the "Blink Shell", which can be purchased from the App store -or- you can build it yourself from source. I am unsure if the developers directly get any money when you purchase it from the app

The "cheats" are 1879 bytes of table data stored in the bios image :-). If you liked this, I also suggest take a look at Christopher Mills entry from 2018, which is a PDP-7 emulator, which doesn't use the BIOS tables trick.

Sorry to be critical, but I think that MOSFET is undersized for an application trying to save power. There are two issues, it is N-channel so will require a charge pump in order to use on the high side. It also has a rather high R_DS of 0.3
