Has he GP edited his comment? "Pauseless" in quotes seems to suggest recognition that the GC is not truely pauseless. I interpretted the comment as being in contrast to Go's GC, which also purports to be very low pause.

Another advantage to using alt-backspace over ctrl-w is that the former has the same semantics as alt-b. ctrl-w considers a word to be anything surrounded by spaces, whereas alt-b and alt-backspace consider a word to be any consecutive stri

Semantic versioning works great for software like Java. When you deliver an application with java, you want to ensure that the vast majority of your users have a compatible Java version. You also want to make sure that a new version of Java

If google and facebook - who make their money off data - are willing to delete data for free, then they probably have some legal mandate to do so. If so, then they will continue to allow deletion while the laws remain in place.

I use tabs, but have them organized into a vertical tree. This allows many more to be visible at a time. Since they are in a sidebar, you interface with them like bookmarks, but they don't spawn a new tab when clicked. Because they are

You forget that webpages are allowed to do what ever the hell they want, and so each is probably running a script or two in the background. We put up with a lot in webapps that would never stand in a desktop app.

To be fair, 500k, at least compared to some webpages, is actually a fairly small size. This isn't really a case where a percent of the total is useful.
