Somewhere in the middle is best for me. Not quite ORM, not quite raw SQL, but a query builder. In the Node world knexjs.org fits the bill.

The us-east-1 outage of S3 in spring of 2017 comes to mind. The AWS status page went down and no one could figure out what was going on because the status page had a hard dependency on us-east-1 S3.

The point of the && in a Dockerfile is because every single RUN directive adds another layer to the final image. Less layers = slimmer images = faster and lighter deploys.

Linus has the (imho: valid) expectation that kernel changes should not break userspace (for detailed explanation see: https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/235532 ). Even if the version numbering is not an explicit API like

Why is wireless networking called wireless when there are wires connecting the wireless router to the modem? Or the modem to the coax? Because it's wireless at the last hop and that is what is what is important to the user.

Fake news is news that is fake -- aka entirely fabricated with no basis in reality. "13 Obama supporters arrested for terrorist plot"-- boom, just made that up. That's fake news. Anything with a basis in reality is not.

I'm fairly certain that under the hood serverless RDS is just "intelligently and dynamically adjusting the instance type with zero downtime" though, not really technically interesting compared to Lambda-serverless.

Also "wireless" networking also involves wires of some kind. In terms of wireless networking, I don't care that there are actually wires that connect my router to the internet. It's the same with serverless architectures

If you want to set up your own server, why do you need a control panel? Just learn to configure all the services. Command line is all you need. If you want ease-of-use, running your own server is not the way to go. You can get pretty far wi
