Correct. When I enumerate the other alternatives, there's no single backend that is free from a fatal flaw. SDL - can it drive 4K displays? OpenGL - a shattered ecosystem, with some implementations being out of date (Windows) or signif

It's totally okay. I don't think the link to previous discussions was meant to imply that it's bad to discuss a new release.

My recommendation is to get a phone number for with an area code out of state. It'll be pretty easy to avoid spam calls because they'll use your area code.

Have you tried climbing? It just seems like something that woukd fit in that group, that and parkur. Unfortunately those both seem like they have a high barrier to enjoyment.

I'm the crazy idea guy at work. They are usually bad ideas. But occasionally we have to pause and say "that might be a good idea", and sometimes an idea turns out to be really good, attacking an issue from an unexpected angle

I don't think WASM is meant to replace JS, but you the tooling is such that you can use it to replace JS and have the JS glue generated for you. But it does seem that in a couple of years it'll be on-par performance-wise with java

No, it's not the standard. There has been some friction between the two groups (tokio and async-std) unfortunately. I'm not sure what the original source of friction was, but bad feelings seem to seep out when the projects are dis

Uh, they said that DDG is improving, and that improvement was enough to get them off Google. They didn't claim DDG was better in every way.

That seems like an uncharitbale reading. A manager let people know that they'll be able to tell if a new chrome release will affect them by testing with beta. The overwhelming sentiment was "we're sorry".

Any gains in the single threaded model (usually) carry over to the parallel model. And maybe there is a separate effort on making the parallel compiler working better. Maybe they are working on it in parallel.

I don't know. Fun tidbit about Rust: in Rust, using iterators is actually faster than normal loops because the compiler can elide (infer and remove? not entirely sure how to define elude), most of the bounds checking. I'd assume i

Well, in the article, they did mention creating 600 hundred work from home jobs in 500 years. It did require effort though, not just the existence of good internet. But it does seem possible to bring jobs to rural America.
