Can someone explain to me why any of these values truly matter? My background is in game development both on Facebook and mobile, and I spent a lot of time paying close attention to the growth of the web and its various startups. Number of

Made the mistake of ordering Thai food from a ghost kitchen restaurant from Doordash in Redwood City (they have a kitchen here). It was the worst Thai food I have ever had by about ten miles. Like, I have never had Thai food that approached

I would argue that the decline in software quality is related to the rise of SaaS coupled with Product Manager-driven development. If a product is generating consistent revenue, resources are devoted to expanding that revenue. It's ext

Google’s knowledge graph feature is just so fundamentally broken that it should probably be subject so some kind of government lawsuit. Google has a near-monopoly in search and has been perceived as the way to get the “correct” answers to q

“Broad jump: Killed her.” is one of the most clever succinct jokes I have ever heard. Works even better because it’s the only pun in the sequence! The first two minutes of the set are incredible.

Some places are still like this. EA is not. I worked at a company that was acquired by EA in late 2011 and stayed until 2016. Post-acquisition, EA's HR folks made sure that a whole bunch of the studio's staff were properly classif

This is fine. If anyone played the Mark of the Assassin DLC for Dragon Age 2, you might recall how utterly out of place Felicia Day sounded in that game. It was like if Larry David showed up in the Fellowship of the Ring, but everyone else

I think this is a per-person issue. I personally am a “I need to care deeply about what I’m working on” kind of person; I’m not motivated by problem-solving for its own sake. Some people are. I suspect that there are many successful entrepr

Seems like few people remember that for a brief period, messenger bots were all the rage in the tech press and a lot of investment money was lit on fire to support them. I suspect most or all of that fervor can be traced back to this email.

I think you're suggesting that the hunt for identity never ends so why bother? That's ridiculous. Just because we can always be trying to find ourselves doesn't mean we can't do things that get us closer to the ideal ver
