Unlimited private repos for free? That is mighty impressive, and stacks up very well against github (especially since I prefer hg over git).

Apple should have bought Dropbox when they had the chance. Syncing an iOS device's documents via dropbox is WAY better than iTunes.

Thanks for turning me on to Instafetch, I had been looking for a good Instapaper-esque android client.

I do wonder what he's going to do next. Instapaper is at that point where it doesn't really need new features, so I hope he doesn't try to overdo it, and instead concentrates on something new.

Yes you can, but you have to do it right. Apple bought SoundJam and turned it into iTunes. Google bought YouTube, and that seems to be working alright thus far. Amazon bought Zappos, and they haven't been relegated to the dust bin. "As soon

What is the rationale behind blocking the market? Is it because the carriers are worried that you'll get a bandwidth hungry app? It just strikes me as completely preposterous and backward thinking.

"But who cares about 'Fart' apps?, you may ask. Lots of people do - kids, especially, of course." Yes, but nobody is going to buy a different phone to get a fart app .

Keep in mind that using C# to program iOS apps is still very different than traditional .NET apps. The language is familiar, but the framework is definitely not.

Question about heroku: I know that they have delayed_job support, but I need something that will kick off a DJ call every 5 minutes or so. The hourly cron add-on just won't cut it.

At the time, I mocked Verizon for branding their Android devices as "Droid," but now I think it's a little brilliant. Companies like Dell and anyone else can release crap, and it won't damage Verizon's brand, since most of the public doesn'

I dunno, there was already a stereotype (maybe even of stigma) of working at Oracle. I've always held the notion that they cared more about selling their products than developing them. It's not like super talented hackers were beating down

I think names like that (and Digital Restrictions Management and all the others) just undermine the seriousness of their position. They sound like the playground taunts of children.

I am curious about how many NON-programmers are using these StackExchange sites. Are they attracting new users or just the subset of StackOverflow users that also like X (cooking, gaming, etc)?

That's fine. This article is aimed at the vast majority of office workers that live paycheck to paycheck, and have no idea what they're in for.

I saw that, and agree with that philosophy, but does the compiler also pull in all the extra files too? I didn't see it spelled out... I'm guessing yes, so I'll play around with it later tonight.

It requires literally dozens of .js files to get it working... Is there a bundled and minified version of this in a single file? I'm very much interested in a basic rich-text editor that is either uses jQuery or is just framework independen

Agreed. From the description, it sounds like it would be best marketed to enterprise and bigger businesses. Kind of like how they encourage SourceSafe users to migrate to Vault, they could work on migrating TFS/ClearCase users to Veracity.

This is a problem best solved by the car UI, rather than phone/music player. Steering wheel controls (and/or voice commands) are FAR less distracting than any ipod sized device.

It's good that they're seeking ways to increase revenue, but this comes across as nearly cyber-begging. "...we can right now only offer you our undying gratitude and an optional trophy on your userpage." Yikes. What else could reddit offer

This is true, but it also reinforces the statement that WebForms suck. It was so broken, that you had to write your own framework to deal with it.

How does YouTube handle nudity? I don't think I've ever seen anything like that on there before. Is it automated or does it have an approval process? Or do they just rely on dmca-like takedown requests?
