I wasn't running any hardware accelerated stuff except for video games. That would (I guess unintuitively) take up more memory.

It's probably one of the easier things to recover from eg used PCBs. It's not like plastic resins which decompose into carbon when you do something wrong. Also manufactures probably throw a ton of copper (chloride?) out which they

IMO: schematics are fine. You're unlikely to use the same CAD software they did anyway. This feels a bit like complaining about some company publishing the source for their MSVC++ win32 app.

This. Mozilla has the power to make a bittorant client instantly available to tons of web users which would make self hosting video trivial and make YouTube's recommendation algorithm mostly irrelevant.

I could imagine them saying something similar about self hosting compilers.

The feedback loop the recommendation algorithm generates is really powerful. I personally have to treat youtube cautiously the way I treat any addictive drug otherwise I end up watching it long after I would have liked to.

I can fit on an 8mb (doesn't matter) machine no problem. ssh->tmux on my VPS, no need to change a single thing. Much more interesting would be an old computer disconnected from the internet. 512mb is enough to get away with it if

If YT ever suggests something you don't like then you have to not ever watch it for a long time to make it go away. Unless it's television news, something seems to artificially inject that into the feed.

Saying no to smartphones is certainly impressive but IMO you don't have to go that far, just say no to apps and web services that act like apps.

Alternatively set your status to "email me" and just never go to facebook again. That worked for me but that was 5 years ago.

Eventually the market pressure causes construction or artificially constraining housing creates social and humanitarian crises like what you see in SF which will bring the market back to equilibrium in other ways.

If housing hadn't exploded over the last 30 years I don't think stagnant wage growth would have been an issue. I've always felt like housing is the biggest indicator of inflation.
