Both S/MIME (encrypted email) and OMEMO (signal style encrypted IM for XMPP with keys generated and verified client side) have been around for quite a while. That your organization doesn't have one of these is a complete failure o

I've worked on things like this before, sometimes it's more because someone at the top demanded that the app get built that way and everyone building it knows it's a terrible idea but aren't empowered to make fundamental

That's obviously completely untrue. It doesn't matter anyway, end to end cryptography is meaningless if someone you don't trust owns one of the ends (and in this case, Apple owns both.)

From what I've heard Facebook is one of the better places to go to groom children. Better would be educating people: don't use your real name or upload pictures of yourself to the internet, be very careful talking to strangers. Do

This pushed me over the edge to get the last remaining thing I use my iPhone for working on my Pinephone: maps. Marble (from KDE) is really good and even has offline routing support. I think I'll buy a GPS unit just in case (I was pl

There's no reason computers should mean you can't repair your car, I repair my computers. That's just a shitty bait and switch marketing trick like the idea that ARM computers cant run FOSS just because of the architecture.
