For some reason, I'm not seeing the text, so repeating it here: I found the "Event based modes" concept very useful. Also: * Haptic tactile feedback * Fingerprint identification as input method * RFID reader http://www.macrumors.com/2009/0

There has to be good balance and checks introduced in the system. Perhaps even make it open source, after all it is a public work. This way, there will be no room for problems such as voting machines rigging ( http://news.rediff.com/report

Well, if Java is under the GPL now, why doesn't FSF actively promote Java for their projects?

Can you point to these actual claims? As far as I've understood, they were just stances and FUD. They haven't made any specific claims. That's as vague as it can get.

If there are indeed patent threats any time, it can be worked around or that part of the functionality can be removed. Why throw the baby out with the bath water?

Does RMS support usage of Java? If yes, are there no threats there? If no, have they given any thought to having an official recommendation for new GUI (GNU) projects, at least a language with garbage collection.

Honestly, this thing is stabler than the latest Firefox on Linux! And on top of that, it takes 1-2 seconds to open up vs. 14 seconds for Firefox. (My PC has 3GB RAM, 2GHz Intel Dual core 2 processor, Ubuntu 8.10)

Awesome! I've been using django-oauth for sometime now, been looking at django-restapi and so on. But this takes the best of both worlds. And I especially like that it is not tied to the data models, so this means we can build in some busin

I was more interested in a way to write data into Google Analytics, something like what MixPanel does ( http://mixpanel.com )

Reminds me of Peek ( http://www.getpeek.com ) which is a dedicated email device. Looks like one-functionality devices are making a comeback.

Reminds me of the Longhorn promise (WinFS, etc), and we ended up with Vista (it's a decent OS, but as an end-user, it just hogs more memory, I don't see any other benefits). I hope they make this happen though.

Definitely. This is like Bollywood/Hindi movies making rip-offs of English movies. It still adds value because it brings the idea (the story) to a number of people who wouldn't have been able to use it otherwise (language barrier).

Try out some of the example applications at http://degrafa.org/samples/ and try to guess how long it would take you to write those samples using modern javascript frameworks vs how long it would take to write using Flex/Flash.
