Thanks for the comment, I definitely agree that this should have been picked up in a refactoring. I've also been on other projects that go the opposite direction of abstracting everything to the point that you don't realize some function ha

The main "win" would be to keep the logic for converting between units within the Carbs class. Otherwise every screen in the app is going to have to know that the integer value needs to be converted before displaying it.

This reminds me of a Google Doc found on the /r/keto reddit: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nFFXn_Uve5uh0qtqdAa0HvpE... I really like the concept of being able to spend an afternoon cooking meals for the week. Especially if the recip

Personally, if I were the author, I would want the portion that was pasted in to be styled (gray bg/italic text etc) as a quote. To me, it seems like the next two paragraphs are presented as a summary of what Joshua found, not the whole pos

Is there a license on these? I poked around for a few minutes but couldn't find anything. Seems like a generally useful icon set for any web-apps related to software or developers.

When the added costs of integrating a DI framework (added complexity, getting the rest of the team up to speed and debugging problems directly related to the framework) does not provide sufficient value. This could be the case for smaller p

We thought this was the case as well for some internal apps using an ancient version of Rails. The problems start to arise when you bring in new people to work on improvements to the project after the creators are gone. It is much easier to

Yup - it's not that difficult either. This repo of mine is about 90% of the way there (though it doesn't use this library, it uses the same method): https://github.com/swanson/lanyon There are some caveats: you need to register an OAuth a

It could be far less nefarious than getting passwords or adding SSH keys. If, e.g. the `repo_id` attribute is not protected (and there are no further authorization checks), he could just send a POST and set the repo_id to the Rails project

It can all be tracked back to the well-known "Mass assignment/attr_accessible vulnerability" in Rails. Demonstrating that even Github - full of very smart engineers - is vulnerable is just an attempt to raise (even more) exposure to the pro

Sorry - I wasn't being clear. I am looking for some kind of CSS framework that will do Android/iOS styles for buttons, tabs, transitions, etc. You get this kind of stuff with jQuery Mobile - but I didn't see how it was done with the Backbon

I've been taking the "then send me a pull request"-approach lately. There's no reason to be embarrassed about making something (even if it's sloppy) - especially if the person pointing out the flaws hasn't built anything themselves.
