If you have not watched Laurie and Fry's TV Series "Jeeves and Wooster", make it a point to do so. It's really a funny, intelligent series. The use of language is clever and the two have their characters nailed down. My wife and I just fini

I don't disagree that what you point out is the ideal. Given the 4 word response, I thought I'd mention that standards from criminal law will not apply here and that the case will be decided on a balance of probabilities. I don't know this

That's from criminal law, this seems to be a civil act. Also, while we're there, the burden of proof is different -- proof beyond a reasonable doubt vs balance of probabilities. (IANAL, I just remember this from an engineering law class)

I'm reminded of the engineer that saw 20 standards that did almost the same thing, so he created one standard to unify them. And then there were 21 standards.

Yes, Cisco IOS had TCL embedded in a few places. You could run scripts from the command line and access SNMP MIBs, run scripts on certain conditions, and I'm sure there's more. F5 load balancers also use TCL for their iRules. With such a si

In the US there are many agencies you have to deal with and a lot of paperwork that must be filed. Unlike Canada where you tax based on the work-location and pay everything to the federal government, the US has all sorts of fun rules that m

My first thought was of the more cynical http://www.despair.com/motivation.html Motivation: If a pretty poster and a cute saying are all it takes to motivate you, you probably have a very easy job. The kind robots will be doing soon.

Ive got an app in the AppDirect marketplace and think they're a bunch of great people, I just don't see why anyone in their right minds would go for this. My understanding of the deal: "If you're qualified, come work for us for 2.5 years. A

I am reminded of the famous quote "Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon loaded with backup tapes."

If you would have pasted a larger part of the quote, you would have included the part of increasing the window size (e.g. window scaling, selective ACKs, like almost everything out there supports) and the mention of satellite links to refer

Latency != bandwidth. Also, one goal of DPI is to enable granular QoS policy. So the total bandwidth available would stay the same, but the bandwidth available to each app would vary depending on network conditions and the will of the netwo

Yea, some people suggested that in the forums. It doesn't end up being the full 768 (which is not the end of the world) but you also lose the extra HDD and bandwidth so you're actually paying more at that point.

I'm actually disappointed. I liked the 768 package, it was big enough that you could run a fair amount of stuff [0], and cost only $30/month. I was planning on buying a new one over my Christmas holidays and moving my stuff over so I could

This is nice. I could see myself using it even though I normally do this on the command line, as this would be faster. Comments: * You're often too literal, especially given your audience is going to be largely people that find it too compl

I'm not positive it is. If you are in Canada and ask Siri for something like "where's the nearest coffee shop", in iOS 5 you get "I don't support that in Canada", but in iOS 6 you get the expected results.

One huge advantage that puppet and chef offer is abstraction from the underlying system. So if you write a configuration that says "Apache should be running, have PHP installed, and have the following 3 virtual hosts installed", then you do

No, I moved to Rails; Cake was a short lived endeavour. Cake was actually what got me there. I liked the things it did but hated the way it was written. Then I found out they were basically trying to clone Rails in PHP, so I gave Rails a sh
