The marketing is amazing but not sure if it resonates strongly with the actual product. I was imaging some personal goalkeeping/notetaking app, not Jira 2.0

Engineers really love saying this but I take it as a good thing. It's like audibly complaining that you get too many Tinder matches.

Probably the best after Meta and Airbnb from what I've seen. Looks like most large companies have been generous with their severances with the exception of Twitter (not sure about Amazon).

That's funny you say that. You're literally describing the Boston Massacre which I think most Americans would side with the colonists on.

It kind of does, no? Would you want your recurring charge to fluctuate randomly just because the developer converts everything to their currency? Or what about getting screwed over and being charged an exorbitant price because you live in a

Not defending what DD was doing there but whether it directly goes to the driver/server/cashier or not, you're still implicitly giving that money to the store owner/delivery company/restaurant by allowing them to ge

Not saying that the grandparent comment is confirmed, but they always keep recruiters busy no matter what until they themselves are laid off. AFAIK Google has pretty much paused hiring across all divisions.

DALL-E dropped the ball. They had the tech and the hype surrounding their product but blew the lead to Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. Their GTM and pricing/monetization team should be ashamed of what they've done here.

Tesla ALWAYS does 10% layoffs. Why anyone wants to work for an overrated egomanic who believes an annual 10% culling is good for the company is beyond me.

Startups. If they do the math and the trendline doesn't seem good, they'll make their teams go through a grind before layoffs. It's not necessarily to eke out a bit of productivity, per se, but they're essentially throwi

This is strictly re: software engineers but I don't think that's true IMO. Put another way, I think the average recruiter/co-founder/EM would be more interested in hiring an ex-Twitter engineer vs an ex-Tesla engineer.

Honestly, it's mostly because they pay more. They're more selective and thus have better engineering talent meaning Twitter engineers on the average are going to have a better engineering skills than Tesla software engineers Tesla

Are you a lefty? I'm a lefty scissors user as well so I've gotten used to right hand scissors (you just push the bottom blade to the right as you cut). That may not be the case for most right handed folks since it "just works

You might be confused but that's literally what you do as a business. You leverage your domain area expertise to expand into new areas of business. For instance, Apple already knew about the portable hardware market and extended their

I don't understand your point. Of course at the end of the day VCs are paying for everything in the sense that they funded you, but there's a clear distinction between personal expenses (which come out of your salary) and business

I dunno. I truly detested being in competitive games with a "thrower" (someone who will blatantly try to sabotage their own team) and I imagine this will help quite a bit to mitigate the problem.

Again, that's not quite true. They had barely managed to eke out the Pebble 2 the month prior but had been in distress for quite some time. They had a huge layoff earlier that year as well and were forced to raise a debt funding round

That's not quite what happened. Pebble was virtually dead and shopping around for an exit. Fitbit bought Pebble for its IP (i.e. patents) / soft acquihire. No one was going to be making the Pebble 3.

If they do, it just means that they're making more $$$ from you for providing that feature. Otherwise they're under-monetizing and all it tells you is that they don't have their pricing and growth strategy put together.
