One of the main issue is continuous power supply. You might get power for couple of hours a day which is good enough for charging mobile. But then towers would need to have a generator for 24x7 operation. So this technology fills that gap.

Looks like it hasn't been updated for about a year. Personally, I use stumpwm + conkeror + emacs + screen + emacs.wanderlust(for gmail imap).

` cannot be used since in terminal C + ` or C + SPC or C + @ translates into same thing(only allowed characters are @ [ \ ] ^ and _ ). I personally prefer using \

FYI, Host Identity Protocol does something similar using ipsec(at least every packet is encrypted), though it provides more features than this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Host_Identity_Protocol
