False equivalence to Rumsfeld and Feith (and interesting you leave out Rice and Powell). What about somebody who contributed money to the reelection of George W. Bush in 2004?

I re-read his transcript before I published my comment. He says he's from Silicon Valley (which is true) but not that he speaks for Silicon Valley.

I have never heard him claim to speak for Silicon Valley. The question becomes then, what do you consider your line. Is this about his outsized financial support? What if he gave his RNC speech and only donated $10,000?

I'm against Trump but this holier-than-thou grandstanding demanding shunning anyone who supports Trump is tiring and small-minded. It's a symptom of a society intolerant of other political beliefs. Moreover, do you think ostracizi

They can agree with that and still continue working with Thiel. You can be against fascism and but still be against creating a society where everyone must get in line politically or else be shunned.

There's a difference between standing against a bigot, and ostracizing anyone who may support him for their own reasons.

I think the core of this dispute is the question: How do we deal with those we deeply disagree with? Ostracism, shunning, and preaching? Or vocally opposing their beliefs, as civilly and constructively as you can? America is increasingly se

Sure except taxes aren't that high in California. 30-45% is a much more realistic range for income taxes (state + federal + payroll).

When people say "30% of your income is spent on housing," do they usually mean pre-tax or post-tax? The article claims you need $145K a year to afford a $2000/month apartment. But assuming that you lose 40% to taxes, you woul

Although sometimes the lack of consent to be treated is the issue, I think the far bigger issue is underfunded/understaffed mental health services. I think the consent issue is a bit of a distraction from that.

Perhaps. Our current two-day weekend doesn't prevent people from working weekends either. But most jobs stick to a 5 days/week norm. Hard to do less than that unless the norm changes.
