The next shock that Silicon Valley and US government will face in the near future is when the next social media monopoly or communication service is from a Chinese owned company. Imagine if wechat had won the messaging war vs whatsapp. This

"attract the talent"...this is no longer the case. I talk to 50+ (new) senior engineers/month (for the past 6 years) and there has been a serious mind shift in the last couple years. I now hear things like "hasn't i

Self hosted email, chat, messaging, calls is the future. Individuals will own host and run their own services for these on public clouds. There is no reason for giant corporations to own these services.

Hard to believe that Facebook did not know about this? I imagine there are small account-management teams within facebook for large clients spending millions.

You don't care, doesn't mean you SHOULD not care. Public apathy from smart people was probably behind what happened in 1930s Germany.

Got it. So if you were given the job to fix US unemployment of 6.6 million(likely more since this is just reported numbers), you would begin by focusing on the 1% bucket and then continue to refine the solution within that bucket.

Perfect. The best case outcome for your proposed solution is a reduction of 1% in US unemployment rate. (65k H1b/year vs 6.6million unemployed in the US)

Also the total number of unemployed people in US is 6.6 million. The number of H1b visas granted every year is 65000 (that's 2 orders of magnitude). If you were put in charge of solving the unemployment problem of USA, would you focus
