Incredible scientific breakthrough here. Kids may speak sooner and have a better vocabulary if their parents talk more. Almost as if they learn from us. Amazing!

> People who are not building the architecture should not make decisions about it. Nope! Everyone can and does make mistakes. A good architect should accept and learn from suggestions and ultimately better technical decisions put forward

Very misinformed. You should talk to more people and do some more research.

> As a Brit it is utterly bizarre and alien to me. I’m really surprised you say that. 90% of the jobs I look at for ‘software developer’ do not state salary. I have seen a couple with a ‘salary range’ but most don’t mention it or say “de

It’ll only feel interrogation style if you make it that way. There are more casual ways of dealing with these things that are fun and not too serious!

Hmm, not sure I agree with that. Some questions may be a bit heavy for a first date and some are perfectly reasonable. You would need to use your judgement and see what feels acceptable for the situation :)

It’s only like an interview if you make it like that. These types of questions are incredibly useful if you’re both a bit nervous or both naturally not very chatty. The idea isn’t that you run through every question in order, get an answer

I went through a similar set of questions on a second date. We have now been happily married for almost 5 years and have a 1.5 year old. I guess it worked pretty well!

I'm basically you. I am married, have been watching porn for a _long_ time, still have a good sex life and have never had any issues with ED. If anything, as I've got into my 30s, I've become even more horny than ever before!

I use 1984 DNS to simplify updating my domains with my dynamic broadband IP. They have quite a nice API, so you can do this: curl " https://api.1984.is/1.0/freedns/?apikey=xxxxxxxxxxxx&domain=... " If

Same for me. I had it back in early 2018 also with similar time scales. It was a horrible time, but have fully recovered now and not had any issues since. Luckily it's (apparently) not one of those things that recurs once you've h

I started a new job April 2021 and haven’t felt a lack of social connection. In fact, I feel like I have built better social connections faster working remotely. I am a software developer and honestly find it easier to communicate and build

I’m still using an iPhone X, which I bought new, so that’s almost 5 years. I will be getting the iPhone 14 when it comes out next month and the upgrade definitely won’t be trivial! You don’t need to buy a new phone every 2 years and I belie

Thank you for this - you spurred me on to have another look in to self hosting YouTube and Reddit. I am now running libreddit (I preferred it slightly to teddit) & Invidious. Both are running on my poor Pi 4 alongside 11 other container

Absolutely! It's the only way I get my news. I have FreshRSS self-hosted on a Pi with an nginx reverse proxy front end. I either access it from the FreshRSS web UI or from Reeder on my phone. It's also the main way I use HN - I pr

VaultWarden is fantastic! It's super, super light and fast (Rust + sqlite) and happily runs on my Raspberry Pi 4 4GB in docker alongside 8 other containers. And if that wasn't good enough, all the 'premium' BitWarden fe
