This is exactly what I love about Roblox. My 11-year-old daughter does "commissions" and designs 3d objects to sell, she's on "Scripting teams" where they help design in-game elements. She's having fun, buildin

Nah, it's pretty simple these days and people who love scripting can use powershell for everything

More people and fewer companies dominating how everything is found... i don't think that change is for the better.

true, but when it was lycos, hotbot, altavista, google, webcrawler, aol, gopher, archy, usenet and so many other sources it was much easier to exist in many ways (harder to dominate) - people used to ‘surf the web’, join “webrings” and sh

For every site that annoys the crap out of you with these “dark patterns” there are probably 10x that don’t - that people don’t visit and don’t buy from. To fix the internet we have to fix our behavior and not PUT our money into systems th

Search is the problem. If you don’t rank in google you don’t exist on the internet. There is an entire economy built on manipulating search that is pay to play in addition to google continually focusing on paid search of natural SERPs. Cont

If emerging markets are where growth & recovery is at, the US certainly won't compete there through protectionism. This isolationist approach to trade is just that... You can't have many 20B+ dollar companies if they're

You do realize that China is now just going to develop its own CPUs, it's own OS's and its own devices now and China will be better suited to sell to emerging markets where the real growth is since US companies can't compete

I read what you say and want to flip it around back at you - Aren't you just projecting your own power in lieu of your perceived loss of power? Even your framing of your market space projects a sense of power. GPL actually doesn't

This isn't being fair, this is projecting valid fears of a new service and comparing them to other platforms that haven't experienced said fears on any scale to make such a comparison valid to begin with. We all know when MS or So

Pinterest is a visual search engine, not a social network. Comparing it to SNAP or Facebook valuation is missing the entire point. I think Pinterest has other problems - mostly a market based on manipulating it - but hell so does google but

Seems companies are starting to tighten the belt a bit but the market certainly isn't watching for that yet... (or is just ignoring it)

A Jeep Wrangler will cost you 35k for a base model these days and 40k for a "premium" that well, most people still upgrade and tweak for 10s of thousands of more when they get home. My volt was super expensive in 2011, but 8 years

Facebook and social media, in general, has done a lot to bring the "dark web" forward to the masses. What i think sucks the most is that if you silence this nonsense the result isn't that they quietly retreat away but they we

Google is the biggest and most direct threat to the publisher model. Publishers don't earn (good) money off social traffic, it's just not what advertisers pay for so if you're an add driven business you want Google or Pinter

Those benefits don't have to come at the potential cost and risk to taxpayers though. If Google needs a datacenter they should open a data center - a city shouldn't have to incentivize and already profitable company. Economics ma

Apparently, I offended you. I am sorry to offend you. My goal is not to offend you but to mock a culture I find appalling just as I mock the concept of granting tax incentives to hugely profitable companies as offensive. Humor is how I cope

Why should taxpayers have to take the risk for Google if the opportunity and reason for Google to be there is already there? If it's already win-win for everyone, why even have the tax abatement? Google being the extremely profitable c

You're right, it's not illegal. However, I would say its dishonest. Let's be real. Corporations exist solely to make money. Why should taxpayers fund the winners? Who gets to choose that Google deserves taxpayer dollars and f
