A good point. I was unclear. I meant it in the sense that if the JS doesn't run fully successfully there won't be text, or images, or even source mark-up. Just some lists of remote JS CDN in source if anything. It'll mostly j

I also grew up in Wisconsin and Iowa. Iowa's road system may be comprehensive but a very substantial fraction of those are unpaved gravel roads. Wisconsin's roads are paved.

In 2015, yes. In 2025? Probably not. Imgur is enshittifying rapidly since reddit started it's own image host. Lots of censorship and corporate gentrification. There's still some hangers on but it's a small group. 15 comments

The corporations are the problem, not the people, not even the AI. It's incorporated persons and their perverse profit incentives causing them to behave this way. Nothing intrinsic for AI is talked about in this write up. It's all

Yep. Python stopped being Python a decade ago. Now there are just innumberable Pythons. Perl... on the otherhand, you can still run any perl script from any time on any system perl interpreter and it works! Granted, perl is unpopular and

Windows was an amazing exception to this rule for 2 decades. It's incredibly impressive that win32 still works on modern Windows installs. But that's changing fast now.

That's true. But those aren't the people thinking about setting up NASes. Or at least not in my tech support experience. Those people will just have giant fragile octopuses of external USB drives. But it is a problem that most peo

Why would you want to run a locked down a crippled version of linux when you can run the real thing? And if there really are services that only are accessible through iphone/android applications, you probably should not support them.
