A decent article on this: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/flash-memory-wear-killing-... We have this example as a "don't do this" example for excessive logging in our engineering guidelines.

Sorry for the naive question but how is user privacy handled? Is data about the repo sent externally? I assume this would primarily be useful for OSS projects and not private or internal/confidential projects?

Zoom chose Oracle for a lot of their cloud infra which would probably explain that. AFAIK Zoom wasn't bought by Oracle: https://www.oracle.com/corporate/pressrelease/zoom-selects-o...

Was very suspicious when I had to log back in in the middle of the day. Definitely would have appreciated an alert banner or notification somewhere. I don't often check the GitHub blog.
