For me the real advantage of a moon base first is safety. If something goes horribly wrong while we are learning to live on other planets, a return to earth or a rescue mission takes far less time. I am not a space expert though, so perhaps

Amazon does have a monopoly in ebooks. I believe they are using that market power in anti-competitive ways. This is against the Sherman act today.

Some believe Tesla is properly described as a battery company instead of a car company. Their valuation is high for current sales though, obviously investors are buying on growth potential. Regretting selling my shares.

We need about a 3x jump in energy density by weight to make personal electric aircraft practical. I would take this in my next cell phone. The weight is not as big of an issue as safety.
