Anything to do with lawyers, too.

I think the investor's lawyer was being overly cautious. Anyway, small price to pay for peace of mind. Always get a release!

I had the same reaction. Then I realized that I've never used my Mac for high performance gaming of any kind. As a longtime Mac user (since 1984!), it just seems wrong to play games on a Mac.

I only see "Browse on Dropbox website..." and "Share this folder..." in the contextual menu. I don't doubt you at all – I can see in their documentation that the feature exists. I just can't seem to make it happen. Update: Looks like this

Never heard of it. Spent two minutes looking for it on the desktop (right-click I assume), and on the web interface. No dice.

Even Dropbox has stagnated, IMO. Still no granular access control. I still can't share a document as read-only. I know they claim it's because each OS handles access controls differently, but it seems nuts to me that I can host the same f

It's pretty much as easy as wrapping the content in .container, .row, and .spanN tags. The responsive part should take care of itself by collapsing horizontal elements into vertical arrangements, and adjusting widths to keep them within th

The custom module building I was surprised to find, even though I've been using the 2.0-wip branch for a few weeks: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/download.html (Bonus: note the use of ScrollSpy to pin the sub-menu on that page!)

Let's look at the four sub-headlines of the article: >> 1. If you can't design it, you shouldn't build it. My version of this (idiotic) axiom: Don't reinvent the wheel every time you need to pick up groceries. >> 2. Your ho

The author must be a very negative person to take the time out of his/her day to slag on a useful CSS/JS library. It's a community-maintained library that is designed for bootstrapping web apps – hence the name "Bootstrap". How someone coul

I get where OP is coming from, but I think this sort of overstates the case. A well designed app would leverage the existing APIs and UI kit. The iOS and Cocoa Touch APIs are really robust, and with libraries like RESTKit, it's not that

Absent any date-format-aware sort controller: YMD will group results by year, then month, then day. MDY will group results by month, then day, then year. DMY will group results by day, then month, then year. That's why all my filenames look

Morality clashes with business priorities. Every single company under the sun deals with this fundamental conflict. The myopic lens of online discourse is currently focused on Apple, presumably because it got the This American Life treatme

For me, the really objectionable part isn't the "thievery", it's the sloppiness of it. Anyone with half a clue knows that if you're copying HTML:(a) you'd better redact any references to the original source, (b) you ought to change the clas

That's exactly what I meant. It becomes a real problem when you're looking to fill a technical spot. It's really no different than casting actors, though – that's always been a flood of wannabes. My point was just that lowering the barri

This idea has been kicking around since the late 90's. The difference is that production costs have (in theory) gone way down since then. The flip side of that is everyone with a Mac and a Canon 5D thinks he's Stanley Kubrick, so it's har

Aren't people overthinking this problem? The studios have shown their hand; they're wearing their weakness on their sleeve. The thing they're most worried about is piracy. If you stop paying for their product, they believe they will fa

It's not about engineers vs. "Hollywood". I'm not even sure what either of those categories are, and I doubt the people who fall into those categories could agree who belongs in them and who doesn't. Also, the distinction is completely me

It doesn't really matter if you put someone through extensive interviews and then hire them, or if you use a third party who can't afford to lose its reputation, it all comes back to trust, which is why David's post is so on-point.
