Shouldn’t the money be used more efficiently for society’s benefit or not concentrated by the share holders? Share holders will only further their own interests and not society’s interests.

Not really sure Xcode could be considered stable. Currently on 14.3.1 Xcode frequently crashes when switching branches or running pod install.

Yeah that’s not true in Berlin. There are regular crashes where people race through the city and end up killing people.

I had a 2011 MacBook Pro that I used until end of 2022 when the discrete GPU failed for the second time (first time in 2016 Apple replaced the logic board). Replaced it with a Thinkpad T480.

I found the mention of most of Google’s code stored in a mono repo to be pretty crazy. https://dl.acm.org/doi/pdf/10.1145/2854146

Working less than 100% (40 hours) are common in Germany. My current software dev job and last one are 75%. I’m doing 6 hours per day. I get the same vacation as 100% and salary is 75%. I hope to never have to go back to 100%.

If the German government removes the double citizen restrictions like purposed, then you wouldn’t be forced to give up US citizenship.

On the flip side with reactive programming it is very easy to just connect up all the data to UI components and have a bunch of unnecessary redraws. It can encourage a set it and forget it mindset. In iOS programming, there are many article

When you can only run one app at a time on iOS, why do you need 8GB of RAM? Outside of high end games or professional editing type apps, this seems hugely overkill for most apps.

I don’t think much innovation happens year to year. At the beginning of iPhone development every other year Apple was releasing an S model of the previous year, which was just improved specs, but no new features. At this point the smartphon

The yearly updates hardly bring meaningful changes for most people. We don’t have new gaming consoles every year, with iPhones being just as locked down, we could have new ones coming out every few years.

I think so. The AppStore has a policy against developers using private third party APIs and Apple would remove the app if the company complained. Now the company can’t easily have the apps taken down.

I think the reason is that the 32bit games were first developed as 32bit for Windows. When porting it over to Mac, switching to 64bit would be a big amount of work that wasn’t needed.

Have you tried switching to AppKit? Seems like the app doesn’t have a huge amount of UI and could be converted in a few months.

Funny that when it is AI generated porn, it is non-consensual, but Copilot and ChatGPT aren’t labeled as producing non-consensual code and text, when they stole the data in the same manner.
