This matches a description I was able to find online. What that seems to imply though is that expansion was literally faster than light. Yes? No? [edit] and it seems this is true and can be explained by the space-time matrix not being bound

This spawned a question for me that seems like it must be nonsensical but I don’t know the answer. Why did the Big Bang not just produce a Big Hole? IOW, if all the current mass of the universe was in a small volume wouldn’t it have promptl

"The amount of instances multiplying was also clogging up our DevOps team." Let's pause a moment and appreciate that if you have a DevOps team, you're not doing DevOps.

I don't think anyone limited it to angels. And governments do investing all the time, they just don't always call it that. Solyndra and 38 Studios are two notable failures, for instance.

Arguably pensions, too. Although I don't know of pensions that invest in startups, it wouldn't surprise me to find out there are some given the market these days. I would also argue that corporate investing arms tick this box. It&

As the article explains fairly well, this technique targets a gene that, if it mutates, causes that mosquito to be sterile. So when it happens de novo, you have a sterile mosquito that is simply not going to pass its genes along. Since this

It really is that easy in my experience. I had five APs at the last house and Android, iOS, MacOS and Windows all were able to hunt automatically as long as I had the same SSID. When I tried to get cute stuff got a lot less usable.

California has a difficult relationship with prenups. My wife and I essentially have to keep our pre-wedding finances completely separate or they become marital assets and subject to a 50/50 split. Any debts we incur past the date of o

I was raised in a very poor environment, and I still have connections to and experiences from that sort of life. Credit affects a ton of your life in ways that people who aren't poor can't appreciate. If you want cable, they are g

I would only believe this if people were also not getting divorced because they didn't want to lose access to health care. If you have any statistics on this, that'd be interesting. Otherwise, you're simply saying there'

My understanding is that these are pathology samples. I don't know what metadata may be associated with them, of course. Just the samples and the diagnoses would give very little for re-identification to work on.

I have a much better reason for not “mingling” than that: It’s a colossal waste of time! 60s conversations that inevitably end just when they might get interesting is pretty much my definition of hell.
