Would you consider reddit analogous to a country, and the sub-reddits to states? Can we raise the dixie flag of /r/circlejerk and rabble rouse for states rights to stupidity?

I'm sure garbage collection's on the way with the increases in processor and memory in iOS devices. Lack of GC seems to be an artificial constraint designed to force dev's to take charge of a situation with very limited memory. Unless there

"Pad" was met with extreme derision by female tech journalists, their "me too" male counterparts and anyone on Jezebel. I'm sure Apple's brand is strong enough to overcome the current connotations.

I am compelled to link to Dorothy Gambrell's tidy comic detailing the difference between geek, nerd and dork. http://catandgirl.com/?p=1341

Present tense indicates hope that Apple will come to their senses. As "It's currently depreciated, but will come back in full force." EDIT: Well, the proper from without using "be" is: Too bad Apple depreciated FireWire in favor of USB.

"Cardboard wings and green party streams" were attached to the mice. Classy. Here's hoping that The Big Picture has a feature on the sky-party-drug-raver-mice-bait.

Back when I did TA tech teaching there were many, many student movie projects saved due to target disk mode. Too bad that FireWire is depreciated in favor of USB.

Well, there are rumors of the DP-able iPad 2. Yes, that type of DP.

Indeed. I’d have to say this form of laziness is a benefit. Even the extra cost in firewire controller chips helped to doom it outside of pro use.

Guy I worked with used it pretty successfully for Trek. It's a difficult font, but it's not inherently evil like Optima, Comic Sans or Papyrus.

I'm a designer who reads HN, and there are lots of other UX, UI and web people on here too. Most good designers won't work on spec, but if you look at print designers interested in jumping to web, you could try providing comparable hours of

At least now without a case, you'll have a reason to upgrade to the inevitable Rev B, then!

I agree… Apple’s definitely structured to produce long-incubation, high-end products. While iPod and iPhone were smash hits, large scale production probably isn’t the best mesh with better build quality.

Just remember: in some places in America, it’s still very early in the morning. Just sayin’. But as a designer, I’ve always thought it was the reverse.

Just as a counter, I’ve got a handful of friends who actively use iChat’s video functionality. Most just used it to talk to their girlfriends, but one friend in New Zealand virtually attended her best friend’s gallery opening in Minneapolis

Definitely agree. There's got to be a few bars or restaurants in the MPLS area that can hold a party of 20-30. Way back when drunkenbatman was ruling the blogs, they had a 300-man meetup in Chicago.

Great designs are almost always bespoke: created for a specific task of a website. However, a great generic design is generally based on a grid. Check out Grid systems in Graphic Design by Müller-Brockmann.
