Does it seem like insanity to anyone else that portable electronic devices would have any impact on a plane in flight? Even a cell phone. How poorly designed would a plane have to be to be affected by that stuff? Honestly, the requirement m

Having worked with smaller teams in open plans, and now being in a coworking space, I have to say, I don't like it. It's really easy to get distracted by the smallest movement around you, or someone having a phone call, or two people laughi

The logo is O.K. Their homepage http://microsoft.com looks like a mix between a "corporate" website template you'd buy for $50 and a domain squatting page with amazon referral links. Gosh I want to cheer for microsoft but they make it rea

This reminded me of something I did a while ago. For fun, here's a never before seen concept of customer.io. We went in a very different direction. "When fred wilson stops by your site..." https://img.skitch.com/20120823-b1hqqqssee4khwxjbm

Bootstrap has been an invaluable asset for building our MVP. I'm glad we got rid of the top bar, and very few people actually think we use bootstrap. But it affords us wonderful defaults for tables, buttons, menus, modals etc. If the team m

I can attest to the "Nobody wants email" myth being a myth. We started with a "Sign up to find out when we launch" form on our startup page and never planned to email until we launched. (Big mistake) About 3 months in, with the encouragemen

I haven't made the jump from arrows to hjkl. My cofounder's keyboard is arrowless, but my HHKB lite still has the arrows. Maybe in another 5 years I'll make the switch.

For those of you considering building one, what's great about all of these in the article is the difference in height between the monitor and the keyboard. This benefit for ergonomics can't be overstated. If you already have a desk / work i
