Well, that and both Doom/Quake have native ports and open source implementations that beat the pants off the original windows binaries.

Wine (and I'm sure Proton) has a ton of app/game specific fixes. It's entirely reasonable for Valve to desire changes that Wine doesn't want to bring upstream.

I'm stoked to finally be able to play monsters like Doom, Quake, and Bejeweled on Linux.

You would have to be incredibly naive to believe this statement stands on its own, without evaluating implementation details and expectations of the parties involved.

Too bad the Mastodon devs hate SRV records so much. The reliance on WebFinger for federation is the biggest blocker for me deploying an instance on my personal domain.

There's a lot of SoC specific stuff moving over into the Arm Trusted Firmware that sits below the TZ kernel. The upstream ATF is BSD licensed, so while some chips have open source implementations, others might only exist as blobs. It&#

If the way the Kernel is used in China acts as any indicator, it'll be a hard fork that gets discarded every few years for a new hard fork.

That statement is pointing out the existence of a feedback loop in need of dampening. It's not saying the market needs to go away, or that it only benefits a minority. To imply it's a cry that the game was designed to be rigged

Signal has to be able to route messages from user a to user b through their centralized server, so at a minimum they are capable of logging "This user sent a message that we relayed to this other user".

Is there a way to encrypt message headers while using IMAP? My understanding of Protonmail's argument (not that I agree with it) is they encrypt the full message, including headers upon accepting it. Based on my understanding of IMAP,

Marginally sure, but what "other attacks" are you looking to protect against? Most MITM scenarios are going to result in giving up at least one TOTP code -- and that TOTP code will be used to obtain a long-lived HTTP session (I ca

The issue is with storing your TOTP secret in the same store as your password. The idea of using MFA is that multiple secret stores must be compromised in order to grant access to a service. If you put your TOTP secret on your phone (or Yub

I think only the prototypes are using M2. The production devices likely won't have a removable modem, but it will still be a separate chip with separately controllable power.

KaiOS targets feature phones -- a space I'm guessing Google (and know Apple) has no desire to get into. This helps Google to ease along the pre-loading of Google branded apps onto KaiOS devices.
