Magit is an exceptionally well made interface to Git. Yes, it’s built on top of Emacs, and that might stop many from even looking into it. - I am glad I made a deep dive into Emacs last year, and although I stopped using it as an IDE (VS Co

What I am missing most in Obsidian is this: It does not show the date created of the document. I need to hover over a note to see that info. This is such a basic and super important info, I am wondering why it‘s neglected so much. Every not

This is great. It inspired many frameworks to come up with similar solutions. Here is one for Python/Flask: https://pypi.org/project/Flask-Wire/

Nicely written article! - Slightly off topic: I love seeing and reading Python code. Used to see many flaws in the language (things like `.append` changing the object, returning `None` instead of creating a copy and returning that), but aft

Vaccination was developed over 200 years ago, and it saved millions of lives ever since. Only the most crazy people would dispute its effectiveness or insinuate that some sort of hidden powers wanted to poison humanity. Now when did this gr

I find it amusing how quick stereotypisation happens. Many people instantly know how to categorize someone as right or left after hearing only one argument about certain topics like migration or environmental topics or EU. We need to leave

I was in the same boat, until I started watching YouTube stars demonstrate how to use it as - a Kanban Board (abandoned Trello) - a Confluence replacement Now I love it for task- and project management. I use it in combo with Roam Research.

Not bootable with latest MacOS anymore, at least not easily. But ignoring that: CCC is an excellent backup solution for MacOS. Have been bitten by Time Machine twice. Still use it, but do not rely on it.

Roam Research was a game changer for me. - I know it’s expensive, the founder behaves arrogantly, but nontheless: They have created a product that is very unique. Many have imitated it’s feature-set (athens, org-roam, logseq to name a few),

What’s the obsession with naming everything Zen. Zen-this, Zen-that. - And what does Zen have to do with commercial web services.

I loved tinkering with Emacs, reading through code of packages like org-ql, writing my own helper functions in Elisp, migrating every tool I use to Emacs (Editors, IDEs, file explorers, diff tools, dedicated markdown editors, and many more)

Not possible in Germany. That’s a shame. I buy tons of things from Amazon and have no overview of my purchases. Have to use a Firefox plugin to get the data. This should be possible on Amazon.de, directly.

I hope this won't effect tools like "Karabiner Elements"[1]? It's an essential tool I use to re-program the whole keyboard. [1] https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/

While we are at it: Why not orgmode? It‘s much more versatile. But I still go back to markdown because everyone (and almost every tool I use) will accept it.

There are so many devs who can‘t properly Google, but there are equally many devs who can‘t get a couple of books about a subject (that alone is a skill not many devs have mastered), dive into it and take the time to understand. Either they
