I love the indents now with modern editors being able to deal with them ;) Zen mode. Super clean. No end delimiters.

What I like in Ruby: Every expression returns a value. In Python my_list.sort() will return `none`. So if I do `sorted_list = my_list.sort()`, my `sorted_list` will be `none`. And I have been shooting a lot in my foot in the beginning. - I

This is interesting. Just yesterday I asked myself how I can embed links to info nodes in a markdown file. I realized it's easiest to just put the expression in my file like so: (info "(elisp) Hash Tables") (info &q

I use (basic) Emacs shortcuts everywhere via Karabiner Elements. Caps is control. And Enter is control when pressed with another key.

I abandoned Emacs for a year or so and used BBEdit for regex-replace and VS Code for dev tasks. Also gave up on org-mode and org-roam because I could not find a mobile companion. Adopted Obsidian for all my note taking use-cases and journal

There are two dimensions of horror here: One is that we as a tech community are building systems that are able to automatically kill human beings. It’s not only this system. I‘ve seen images of drones with sniper guns shooting everyone movi

Very happy with Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner on my Mac. I have a dozen hard drives and SSDs that I rotate and a NAS, but I don’t use that for backup. Never lost a file. But a reminder to myself: I need off site backups.

There are things that I have solved with this in a fraction of time that I otherwise wouldn’t have persued. Side projects I had in my mind. Or migration projects (old data) with lots of edge cases where I‘d have spent weeks to finish, I did

I use both the API and the web interface as that’s more convenient. I hardly use Google anymore these days. These tools are well worth every penny for me. They save me endless hours of research/ parsing the results and bringing it in a

Ask Claude or ChatGPT if Palestinians have a right to exist. It‘ll answer very fairly. Then ask Google‘s Gemini. It‘ll straight refuse to answer and points you to web search.

Snowden revelations were years ago. And what we saw back then was unbelievable. I can’t even imqgine what the agencies are using these days. So what’s Pegasus anyway compared to what the agencies might have and use.

I have word documents from 1997-1999 that are useless. The recent Word version does not open them. I open the documents in Nisus Writer on my Mac, but the formatting is basically useless. I‘ll give it a try in LibreOffice.
